Cultural Competency in Healthcare

Arkansas's IDD population is racially and culturally diverse, and DSPs serve individuals from many backgrounds. NADSP explicitly includes cultural competency as a DSP practice standard, yet CES training does not address it. This course supports honest self-reflection, teaches how culture, religion, and language shape service preferences, and gives you tools to recognize and address microaggressions in the workplace. **What you will learn:** • Reflect on personal cultural biases and assumptions • Understand how culture, religion, and language influence service preferences • Support cultural and religious practices for individuals served • Communicate respectfully across language and cultural differences • Recognize and address microaggressions and bias in the workplace
