The 'Fatal Five' are the top preventable causes of illness and death in people with IDD: aspiration, dehydration, constipation, seizures, and sepsis. This course teaches DSPs how to recognize early warning signs, respond appropriately, document health observations, and understand their role in medication support tasks. **What you will learn:** • Identify the Fatal Five: aspiration, dehydration, constipation, seizures, sepsis • Recognize early warning signs for each condition • Respond appropriately and document health observations • Support proper nutrition and hydration • Understand the DSP's role in medication support (non-administration) tasks
