Positive Behavior Support Fundamentals
Arkansas CES standards require DSPs to implement Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) and Behavioral Prevention and Intervention Plans (BPIPs) for higher-acuity clients — but most DSPs receive no formal training in behavior principles. This course teaches the ABC framework, the four functions of behavior, proactive strategies, and the critical distinction between behavioral support and restriction. **What you will learn:** • Understand the ABCs of behavior (Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence) • Identify the four functions of behavior: attention, escape, access, sensory • Implement proactive strategies to reduce challenging behaviors • Follow a written PBSP with fidelity and document implementation • Distinguish between behavioral support and restraint/restriction
